Code of Conduct

Statement of Principle

We are committed to providing fun, creative, and sexy environments free from harassment, abusive behavior, discrimination, and consent violations. We are dedicated to furthering freedom of expression in tandem with personal accountability while striving to eliminate abusive behaviors. We are devoted to anti-racism. We expect high standards of conduct and education and will make every effort to ensure that all staff, performers, and attendees act responsibly and with sensitivity.

Volunteers, performers, and attendees are expected to be accountable for their actions' consequences and consider the well-being of themselves, others, and the event. Conduct that undermines this code, or is exploitative of others, will be cause for removal from the event and being banned from future events.

The following actions may be cause for removal from an event and banning:

1: Consent Violations

Examples include but are not limited to failure to honor and use safewords, failure to honor stated limits and boundaries, violations of personal space or boundaries, non-consensual objectification or fetishization, and violations of the photography policy.

2: Abusive Behavior/Harassment

Examples include but are not limited to racism, bullying, coercion, transphobia, unwanted sexual advances, intimidation, non-consensual physical abuse, ableism, and defamation. Comments or behavior that stereotypes, discriminates against, or harms community members will not be tolerated.

Violations of this Code of Conduct

We take reports very seriously. If at an event you are being harassed, have your consent violated, or even just see an attendee, presenter, or staff member making others uncomfortable, please report this to the hosts as soon as possible.

We encourage you to report any code of conduct violations at the event as soon as possible and as you feel safe to do so. We recognize that sometimes reports must be made after some time. To make a report after an event, please e-mail twistedwindows@gmail.com

Review Process

A: If a violation of this code of conduct is witnessed or disclosed during an event, the hosts and event producers are empowered to resolve the matter according to their judgment, including ejection from the event. Any such cases will also be reported to the entire producer team for further discussion/management.

B: Issues submitted via email will be reviewed by the producer team, and those making reports will be kept up to date about all decisions made. All accounts are taken very seriously and are kept confidential. Statements are considered at the least as data points, helpful in seeking patterns of behavior surrounding an individual.

C: Action taken can range from a warning and educational suggestions to removal from a single event to banning all events produced/hosted by Twisted Windows. Action taken will vary based on the nature of the report, the wishes of the person making the report, any patterns the producers may identify, and other mediating factors.

In short:

By attending an event hosted/produced by Twisted Windows, you affirm that you will be honest and respectful in all your interactions and will be accountable for your actions and behavior.

Rope Lab Guidelines

The Twisted Windows Code of Conduct applies to Rope Lab events.

General guidelines:

  • Respect each other and the space.

  • Do not touch anyone or their property without their explicit permission.

  • Do not interrupt scenes in progress.

  • Play involving wax, fire, blood, or penetration is not permitted.

  • If nude, cover the furniture before sitting down.

Bondage guidelines:

  • Players must have safety scissors or another appropriate cutting tool readily available and visible.

  • Neck rope is not permitted. Rope may not be wrapped around the neck with or without tension.

  • Everyone must sign and return a waiver form.

  • All hardware must be climbing-rated or equivalent.

  • Spotters are encouraged for self-suspension or if the combined rope experience of participants in a suspension scene totals less than two years.

  • The house safeword is “safeword.” This is a call for help from outside your scene. The hosts and other experienced players will come to your aid if they hear it. Hosts will also check in if they hear “red” or have concerns.

  • Wipe mats after use.

Player responsibilities include:

  • Being completely sober. No alcohol is allowed at Rope Lab events.

  • Negotiating thoroughly before your scene.

  • Continuously monitoring for ongoing consent and safety during your scene.

  • Playing at a level appropriate for your skill, experience, and environment.

  • Ensuring safety and scene boundaries, including maintaining space and awareness of bystanders.

  • Being aware of the risks associated with bondage, including disabling nerve injury, drops, fainting, and so on, and taking responsible steps to mitigate those risks.

  • Being familiar with and respecting our photo policy.

Follow the letter and spirit of these guidelines to avoid your scene being stopped and you not being permitted to attend our events in the future.
