Wrapt: “Self-Tying with Shay” - An AfterDark Rope Jam

  • Stopgap San Francisco, CA (map)

Our March skill-share welcomes Shay Tiziano to present “Compression & Tension for Self-Tie Flow”. This is a welcoming, raw-beginner-level class. As always, the full dungeon will be open if you’d rather skip the skill-share and get to tying.

Self-tying is a pick-your-path adventure: chase big sensation, drop into deep mindfulness, level up your partnered bondage skills, or create Instagram-ready rope art. Learn more with the person who (literally) wrote the book on it! We’ll kick things off with Shay’s Safety Speed Round (so she can sleep at night) and a conversation about intention and flow. Attendees will learn the essential building blocks of a lark’s head and a half hitch and practice tension basics with rope handling exercises. Learning to tie without a foundation of rope handling is like hunt-and-peck typing: technically functional, but we can do better (and learn practical ties at the same time)! From there, we’ll explore compression-based self-ties involving shape, sensation, and aesthetic intention. Attendees will experiment with variations on a leg tie, chest tie, and deliciously intense foot and calf self-bondage.

Wrapt is a rope jam for people of all skill levels to meet other rope enthusiasts and explore, learn, practice, and play. Each jam will begin with an opening circle to go over the basic intentions for the space. This will be followed by an optional beginner-friendly skill-share/demonstration and open tying time.
