Self-Tie Rope Jam: Under Pressure

  • VoxBody Studio 4120 Martin Luther King Junior Way Oakland, CA, 94609 United States (map)

Self-tying can be used to explore intense sensation, practice mindfulness, build partnered bondage skills, and more. Come learn and tie in the beautiful VoxBody Studio space surrounded by other self-bondage aficionados! This self-tie rope jam includes a friendly and approachable beginning-level floorwork class, followed by an Open Space style event with opportunities to share knowledge, spot for each other, practice, and socialize. If you have an interest in self-tying, we'd love to see you!

TICKETS HERE!

The lessons for each of these sessions will always begin with Shay's Safety Speed Round (so she can sleep at night), intention, rope handling basics, and by teaching the building blocks of a lark’s head and half hitch. Following these fundamentals, each of the three sessions will branch off into different topic areas, as described below. No rope experience is necessary – these are welcoming, stand-alone, beginner-level classes.

  • May – Mindfulness and Flow for Self-Tying: Content includes two basic single column ties for self-tie floorwork, free-form spiral-style floor self-bondage, and applying three key aspects of flow states to bring yourself into the present with self-bondage.

  • June – Under Pressure: Content includes discussion & practice of compression-based self-ties, including exercises focused on tension and aesthetic intention explored through variations on a mermaid tie, chest tie, and intense foot and calf self-bondage.

  • July – Aesthetics, Doubled: Content includes variations on gauntlets, weaving, introduction to double column ties, and an ornamental body harness.
