SF Bay Area Rope Organizations & Resources
The SF Bay Area has an incredible rope scene, with an unparalleled mix of events and educational opportunities. General event types include:
Rope Jam / Rope Lab: Rope-focused events without structured instruction – think of them like “open swim” at a pool. Generally, a venue or organization provides the facilities; attendees bring rope. Some rope jams may be structured more as mixers, with activities for folks who arrive single to connect with potential partners; some are frequented by folks who arrive in pairs and with tying plans already set.
Classes: Structured instruction – be sure to check class pre-reqs! Some classes require folks to come with a tying partner. We recommend taking classes with a variety of instructors, as no one appoach will be a fit with everyone!
Play Party: General kink-focused events without structured instruciton
Performance: Shows, usually with a mix of rope and other performance types.
